Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Another travel day. We met a friend I worked with at a previous job for brunch, then we drove to Mt. Shasta.

Both Melody and I woke early in the morning to some strange music playing. It was just four chords that were slowly repeating, kind of in a new-age style. We weren't sure where it was coming from, but it was very noticeable. Sometime around 6 or 7 a.m., it suddenly stopped. We don't think it was our host, since he wasn't in the condo, but it could have been in another unit.

Since our host wasn't around, we ate breakfast, packed up the car, and headed out. We were going to have brunch with a friend of mine I worked with in the mid-1980s, so we drove to Walnut Creek and found the restaurant. She got there when we did, so we ordered and found a table. It was great to catch up with what she's been doing since we were programmers/systems administrators. She has since started specializing in security.

After saying our goodbyes, we started heading east to I-5 then started going north. We planned on stopping in Redding for ice cream (same chain as the week before but different store), and it occurred to me that our general route was a big figure 8. Going through Redding closed the bottom circle.

When we pulled into Redding, our car was reading 100°, which, while still hot, was cooler than the 109° we saw last time. We found the ice cream store and it was a good way to take a break.

Back on the road, we continued north until we got to Mt. Shasta. We pulled into our motel, checked ourselves in, and unloaded the car. There was a grocery store a couple of blocks away and a gas station around the corner, so we filled up, got groceries, and returned to our room for the night.

As it ended up, the only photo I took this day was of Mt. Shasta from the gas station. We would be closer the next day, so it was good to get a preview.
