Spoke with my mom today and she said she went home from the hospital yesterday. She was in for quite a while, but most of the time was so she could have physical therapy several times a day.
Mom must have worked really hard to get her strength back. A few weeks ago she was trying to walk 50 or 70 feet at a time, but said she got up to about 700 feet, which is definite improvement. Over the past few weeks she's sounded much more alert and her voice is no longer sounds as weak as it used to.
We were wondering about whether someone would drop by the house every now and then to check up on her, but her physical therapist said that Mom would do fine with just going in for outpatient physical therapy. She's going to start with that and see how it goes.
It's great that she's rebounding well and working hard at getting her strength back. She's confident that she'll be able to join other family in Las Vegas in a month or so. Each time she's been in the hospital over the last year, she's had an event not long after getting home, be it the Anniversary Party, going to San Antonio, or Las Vegas. It seems to help her focus on recuperating and getting her strength back.
