Kellen, Josie, and I made it safely to CA on Sunday and even though it's been only a few days, we've been pretty busy. So far the weather has been in the 80's/90's, and has been pretty humid, not unlike what we left in Seattle. Last week it was cooler in Southern CA, but this week it's a few degrees cooler at home. Figures.
The main purpose of the trip was to help my parents with doing inventory at the store, and we've been doing that the past couple days. Lots of tubes of paint to restock, inventory, and update on the computer. Sounds pretty straightforward, but in some cases it means relocating the stock to the right bins, reordering the stock in the back room, and cross-referencing by item name so the computer numbers can be updated. We're still working on the best way to do it, but we'll probably figure it out by Friday, just in time to go home.
Kellen and Josie went to the Aquarium of the Pacific this morning and sounds like they had a great time there. Since it's the summer, there were lots of large groups of kids milling around, but Kellen still managed to get a lot of pictures.
This evening I drove by the North Downey McDonalds, which is the company's oldest standing restaurant. It opened 56 years ago, almost to the day, and was the company's third franchise. It was recognized by the Downey Historical Society in 1983 and was eligible for the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. I don't recall actually going there to eat, and think this was the first time I've actually been at the site. However, I've driven by it many times and have always intended to check it out more closely. I was in need of a photo for today (for our 365 Project) and thought it would be a good subject.
