Tomb of Tu Duc

Citadel

The Citadel used to be the seat of power for the Nguyen Dynasty, during which Hue was the capital of Vietnam. The outer walls were very long, while the inner Forbidden City (where the royalty was and no citizens could enter) was in the center.

The second emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty created nine urns with names for nine emperors, and following emperors used those names. The last two names were not used because the dynasty didn’t last that long.
