Seems it's becoming a “thing” for me to record myself playing the piano for my mom's birthday. That day is today, so here's this year's installment, the Adagio movement of Beethoven's Pathétique sonata.
This slow movement was my grandmother's favorite, and while she'd never ask me to play it, she wouldn't turn down a chance to hear it.
Again, not a sophisticated job of recording (just my phone on the piano) so the dynamic range is compressed a bit (you can especially tell when it goes from soft to loud, where the recording tries to lower the volume to make it more even), but it's not as bad as I would fear. The piano is between tunings, so there are some notes which sound a tad harsh.
As for the performance itself, it's still a work in progress, but it's definitely getting better since I picked it back up a few years ago. Still kind of harsh, and sometimes I bring the melody out better than others (this not being one of those times).
You can look at all the birthday piano posts.
