Chéticamp to Halifax, Wednesday, 21-Jun-2023
First of two travel days. We drove today, leaving Cape Breton Island to return to Halifax before we fly home tomorrow.
Other than driving, we had no plans for the day, so we didn't rush in the morning. After heading out, I missed a turn, but that ended up okay since this way we got to see the south part of the Cabot Trail. It only ended up being about a 15-minute diversion, and it was good to see that part.
Around lunchtime, we pulled into New Glasgow to have some lunch. Knowing we were going to have dessert in Halifax, we turned it down at the restaurant, even though they looked good.
Back on the road, where we were staying at the same hotel as when we were in Halifax at the beginning of the trip. This time, instead of parking in the garage, we just left the car on the street. I had some money left over for parking, and we only had to pay for a few hours since we would be leaving before metering starts in the morning.
Having checked into the hotel, we headed down to the waterfront for some ice cream. Last time, we were going to try Black Bear Ice Cream, but they were closed. Today, however, it was sunny, a weekday, and there were lots of people milling around, so it was no surprise that they were open. Their ice cream was also good.
Back up the hill to the library where we spent some time at the café there, taking advantage of their Wi-Fi. I also went out to the outdoor area to look out over the city. After that, we stopped by the store to pick up dinner, part of breakfast, and some plane food. Then back to the room to do some packing and relax for the evening. Unlike last time, we have a pretty good view out the window and saw sailboats on the water. When it got dark, I took another look out and enjoyed seeing the lights reflect off the water.
